Über Goodies: Man Down - Rihanna

Rihanna premiered her long anticipated video for Man Down today on 106 & Park. Based on the video she touches on the delicate subject of rape. Many thought the video would match the words of the song, however knowing Rihanna's style she likes to do things with an unexpected twist!

On May 25, 2011 Rihanna tweeted: : BET just cleared woooohooooo... Best news of our LIVES!!!! We LOVE you

Now we see why she was so happy, nevertheless we love the video and its authentic West Indian style!! Take a look at the video and see for yourselves!

Über Talk: R.I.P. to LRG Co-Founder Jonas Bevacqua

Jonas Bevacqua, age 34, was found dead in Los Angeles earlier today. He is best known for co-founding LRG (Lifted Research Group) a popular hip hop clothing line.
There has been no known cause of death just yet, however sources are saying he may have passed away in his sleep.
LRG’s ties with the hip hop community are strong, with many prominent names shown modeling their fashion in a series of ads. Alchemist, Smif-N-Wesun, Drake and legends such as Pete Rock, DJ Jazzy Jeff and De La Soul have sported LRG wears in advertisements over the years. The brand also had close ties with star athletes such as Memphis Grizzlies standout player Rudy Gay and New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush. New Young Jeezy signee Freddie Gibbs also joined the fray, modeling some LRG gear for the company’s 2011 summer campaign. - D.L. Chandler of MTV

Überchic's hearts goes out to both him and his family.

One of our favorite girl groups from the 90's is reuniting for a new album. After taking a 13 year hiatus the talented trio has been signed to a deal with Mass Appeal Entertainment and E1 to record their fourth album.

Along with creating a new album the group is currently working on a documentary to show their success, failures, break-up, and inspiration. No word yet when the album will be released but be assured Überchic will definitely keep you posted!!

So just in case you missed it here's a clip from the final show and if your like me it may still feel a little weird to turn to ABC and there is no Oprah... just the news lol.

Über Talk: Billboard Music Awards 2011

Last night the Billboard Awards aired on ABC. A lot of the chart toppers were present from Bieber to Britney to Rihanna who opened the show last night with a very energetic performance. It was great to see Britney on stage last night with Rihanna and then later performing with Nicki Minaj, although, she received a lot of backlash for lip singing... but at least she looked good on stage doing it. But the show stopper had to be Beyonce performing Run the World (Girls) and accepting the Billboard millennium award. I can't decide which one I liked more her acceptance speech for the award when she acknowledged her old group members Kelly, Michelle, and even the original two LaToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson or her entertaining performance. It was also a good night for other chart toppers, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Eminem were all big winners last night.

If you happened to miss Bey's performance take a look below:

Über Talk: 2011 BET Awards Nominees

As you may or may not know this past week BET announced their nominees for this years 2011 BET Awards! The nominee list needless to say had both listeners and some artists *cough* Trina and Keyshia Cole*cough* in an uproar. Some say the Female Hip Hop artist category is a joke without Trina at least featured on it. Some say it's only fair as she hasn't had any hits lately [which isn't true as she has came out with Always ft Monica earlier this year]

This uproar over the nominees eventually trickled down to BET themselves where Stephen Hill sat down with The Juice of Billboard.com to talk about there decision making process when choosing nominees. For the article click here.

Über Talk: Nicki Minaj Plays Principal for the Day

Nicki Minaj is known for a lot of things, crazy outfits, crazy/humorous personalities... but principal?!?! Yesterday she made a surprise visit to Collins Academy High School in Chicago where she helped lead an English class, acted as principal and of course signed autographs for all of her barbz. The school was awarded the rapper's visit due to participating in the "Get MotivatED Challenge," a competition to improve high school attendance.

Besides the hip hop star's presence the best part about her visit had to be that she presented three lucky students with $10,000 college scholarships. I must say its great to see celebs help contribute to the empowerment of education... way to go Nicki Minaj!!

Fashion Yay or Nay: Janet Jackson

Who: Janet Jackson
What: amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS - Antibes, France
Wear:*unknown designer* A loose tied green satin top and a plum satin long skirt

My opinion: I have to say this gets a definate YAY!! The colors are suddle but still goes very well together! The satin also gives a suddle but elegant feel to the ensemble! This look is very different might I add but it is definitely a winner in Überchic's eyes!!!

Über Talk: Monica Joins "The Voice"

Last week the new singing competition show "The Voice" premiered on NBC with 11.8 million viewers, making it the highest-rated premiere on a major network this year. The show already has a pretty good line up as far as judges but joining the cast is R&B superstar Monica. The superstar is set to join Cee-Lo's team after the show wraps up the blind auditions she will be helping him coach his picks. Since she definitely has one of the best voices currently in R&B I think she will be a good fit for the show. To catch a new episode of "The voice" tune in to NBC tonight at 9pm.
