Über Trending: $15k Diamond Contacts?!

Fashion is forever evolving and new trends are started on a regular basis. Supposedly the latest fashion and beauty trend are diamond contacts which are custom-made, gold-plated contact lenses featuring 18 twinkling diamonds. If wearing your jewelry on your skin isn't enough for you these diamond contacts may just be the thing for you.

The new jewelry line was created from Chandrashekhar Chawan who tried gold-dust contact lenses before but was unsatisfied with the lack of “sparkle effect” he was looking for. He found his inspiration, oddly, through cosmetic dentistry: Chawan’s wife had diamonds planted on her teeth at her last dentist visit, and he realized that people loved jewels anywhere and everywhere.

Chawan compared his creation to Lady Gaga and her followers stating that,"People take time to digest [new fashion], until some celebrity starts using it.” He definitely makes a valid point. However, I don't know too many people that are willing to pay $15k for contacts.



Although the contacts do have an eerie feel to them I must admit they do give the eye a nice sparkle! What do you think of the diamond contacts trend?
