Über Beauty: It's Time To Prep For Winter
It's that time of the year when the products used in the summer are ditched because many women believe they won't need them for the fall. Well, Dove proves to us otherwise with 'Everyday Beauty for Everyday Women' and how to get prepared for the winter and the harsh weather on our skin. The best part of it all, we probably are already doing it, they're affordable and effective! See what you need:
1) Switch from a foaming cleanser to a more moisturizing one: We’ve heard this over and over again from skin care specialists: If your daily cleanser is really foamy it’s also probably drying your skin out a bit. Switch to a creamier formula, and you’ll give your skin a bit of extra hydration. That “squeaky clean” feeling is not always the best for your skin.
2) Don’t stop wearing sunscreen: The sun can still cause damage, especially if it’s reflecting off the–ugh–snow. A daily moisturizer with at least an SPF 15 is good, but a full sunscreen under your makeup and moisturizer is even better.
3) Keep your skin soft with oil: From makeup artists to skin care gurus, everyone is on the oil bandwagon now. Whether you choose a pricey organic oil or something as simple as coconut oil (a small study showed that it can help skin hydration), putting on oil immediately after a shower when your skin is still damp can help lock in moisture. Healthy, moisturized skin is a barrier to prevent infection and it also can make you look younger.
4) Stay hydrated even when it’s cold: Even when you’re not hot and sweaty, you need to be drinking liquids. Staying well hydrated internally will help your skin stay hydrated, too.
