Über Talk: Women In PR Summit - Lessons Learned

It was a wonderful experience and Überchic PR gained so much knowledge about the PR world from the Women In PR Summit. Not only from Anje Collins, but from many experienced, successful, and confident women as well. All week, we are providing advice from what we learned at the summit! If you are new to this PR world, here are 5 more very helpful and motivational tips to help you out. Let's go!

1) Make sure there is a balance of social media and traditional communication with your clients. It's easier in today's society to stay in touch because we have Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. But don't forget that sometimes, there is no personal connection so a phone call or lunch is still just as important.

2) Address inappropriateness with men in and out of the workplace. Set your own perimeters and boundaries of what you will and will not allow. This all goes back to have a STRONG foundation. 3 quotes from LaTonya Story "People treat you by what you tolerate", "You teach people how to treat you", and the best one yet.. "Don't get into the business to find a husband!"

3) Everything you do is represented by your name. Image is EVERYTHING and how you represent yourself. Your style matters because that's your first impression on others. Look the part.

4) Be assertive without being a b*tch. Don't get ran over by setting boundaries, but don't turn into a wicked witch either. Speak up when you need to.

5) ENJOY what you do and the journey!
